China-CELAC Cooperation Forum on Digital Technology to Combat COVID-19, which was held via videoconference on February 3, 2021 (Beijing time), adopted a Joint Statement of China-CELAC Cooperation Forum on Digital Technology to Combat COVID-19. To implement the Joint Statement and respond to the cooperation needs of the participants, China proposes to launch a capacity building project of digital technologies and plans to organize thematic online training sessions for government officials, experts, scholars and technicians from CELAC countries in the timeframe of May-June, 2021, with the aim to improve the development of digital technology and digital transformation in CELAC countries. I. Chinese Organizer

The project is guided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the People’s Republic of China and undertook by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).

1. New technologies and applications: artificial intelligence (AI), big data, e-learning, smart health, e-commerce, etc.

2. New infrastructure development: 5G, industrial internet, etc.

3. E-commerce and Internet-based poverty alleviation

III. Target Participants

Government officials, experts, scholars and technicians of the ICT field from CELAC Countries.

IV. Dates and Organization

The online training sessions will be held in May-June, 2021 and will be conducted in English.

Participants are kindly requested to register on a dedicated training website provided by China. The experts will lecture online and answer questions, and a certificate will be awarded after the training.
